Chris Brannigan

Former Federal Privacy Officer
Chris is a retired federal privacy officer with 13 years of advanced Privacy Program experience. He began his privacy career in 2002 when he joined the USPS HQ Privacy Office as a Privacy Analyst. Chris went on to serve in the FAA Privacy Office as a Senior Privacy Analyst. He retired as Senior Privacy Officer for the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in 2015.
He joined IAPP in 2002, first earned his CIPP/US in 2005, and has served as an IAPP volunteer participating in course material reviews and updates. Since 2015 Chris has earned his CIPM and CIPP/E certifications, and continued teaching IAPP courses that help candidates prepare for certification exams.
Before beginning his privacy career, Chris earned a B.S. in Industrial Education from the University of Maryland. While working full time as a Federal employee in Engineering Research & Development, Chris also served as a p/t instructor for dozens of technical training courses at community colleges in MD, DC, and Northern VA.
